I’m excited to announce a new series on The Fashion Squirrel: Try It Tuesday!
With so many fun new products on the market in both the beauty and fashion industry, I wanted a regular place to feature a full and honest review. From the trendy to the tried and true, I’m ready to start reviewing! And with that being said, let’s talk about our first Try It Tuesday: the Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer!
This product was introduced to me in the must trustworthy way to receive information: word of mouth from a friend. This friend was using this product because she had trouble holding up both a brush and a heavy hair dryer, and I couldn’t help but share that same struggle! Not only is it heavy and awkward to hold up two different styling tools at once, but it’s difficult to really reach all of the sections of hair that you’re trying to get to… and at the right angles. If you’ve ever struggled managing the blow dryer and brush – this is for you. Since the brush and dryer are one in the same piece, you have an extra hand to guide the dryer and therefore you’re able to get closer to that blowout look that you could previously only achieve by visiting the salon.
As a fine-haired person, and I’m sure on this blog you’ll hear me talk about this a lot, a big priority for me is making my hair look more full. I found that with this brush, I was able to achieve the sleek-look but still get volume at the roots, which is the perfect combination! I will tell you that since I purchased this brush, I haven’t looked back at a regular hair dryer.
It also cuts my styling time in half. Previously, I would have spend five minutes blow-drying, and then another 5-10 minutes going through it with a straightener. With the Revlon One-Step Hair Dryer, I’m able to straighten and dry at the same time in only five minutes or less, so I’m out the door quicker! I start by sectioning wet hair at the base of my neck and moving upwards towards the crown.
Now for the downsides. I will say that this product gets hot.. and I mean hot! Every girl knows that heat is basically the devil when it comes to keeping your hair healthy and breakage-free. Even on the “low” heat setting, after a minute or two the heat has more than doubled. If I could change one thing about this product, it would be for it to have a better heat-control. Second, it’s so loud! I live in an apartment with three other girls, and while I know a hair-dryer is white noise, the last thing we want is to wake others up or disturb them with a loud machine.
